High modulation bandwidth QCW fiber laser

A laser source capable of generating adaptable pulse trains to write arbitrary patterns is needed in high speed production systems. Further such laser must be capable of the synchronization with the high speed scanner for precise laser spot positioning. Here we present the solution for true pulse on demand laser operation based on an all fiber laser source using Marker and Idler signals for gain control. With the appropriate control of the two seeds the output power of maximum 200 W can be modulated with a bandwidth of several 10s of MHz. The presented concept is further scalable in terms of the output power or the modulation bandwidth. It is realized in an all fibre laser that can generate customized output patterns consisting of nanosecond long pulses to CW. Further the capability of the system to compensate the nonlinear position time relation of the fast scanner is demonstrated.
