Topic PS: Poster Session

Laser peening induce a compressive residual stress which enhance the fatigue strength and durability of critical metallic components. This technology has been applied to several industries such as the core shrouds of nuclear reactors and aircraft parts. Currently, there are few reports on laser peening in ceramics. In this study, we report on the result of laser peening on sprayed ceramics film using a second harmonics Nd: YAG laser.
